PRACTICE

Nicky believes that we all possess the power to heal ourselves if we are given the right tools and support; that they lead to increased awareness of what affects our thoughts, actions and our emotional state. In practice she uses a combination of various therapeutic techniques that are determined through discussions of each person's needs, preferences and strengths. Tailoring each treatment plan is much like assembling a puzzle; after framing the circumstances that drew you to therapy, you will fill in the pieces together, revising perspective and techniques as needed throughout. This individualized treatment approach is central to Nicky's practice: the care you receive must be tailored to you and reflect your background, circumstances, and goals.

Trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Nicky is equipped to provide this effective treatment intervention for her clients. ART is an innovative, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses back and forth eye movements to help clients address common problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Nicky has a bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and a master's degree in Social Work. She is currently a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She has worked with people with intellectual disabilities and autism for over 20 years, and provided therapy on a volunteer basis at Walk In Counseling Clinic prior to joining the group at MHCS.
